Cinder, by Marissa Meyer, is the first book in The Lunar Chronicles. It is very loosely based on the Cinderella story, but set in the future. Linh Cinder lives in the Eastern Commonwealth, and is a cyborg and mechanic. She meets the prince (of course!) who needs his android fixed. Cinder seems to encounter the prince again and again, even as she is sacrificed by her stepmother. I don't want to spoil the book, but readers will also encounter an evil queen, a deathly plague, and a cliffhanger at the end. I'm looking forward to reading Scarlet, the next book in the Lunar Chronicles.
